(I notice the latest is patch-6.)

Great! The 8-bit limitation was a major pain and I'm sure a lot of
people will be happy to see it disappear. I'm sorry I haven't been
keeping up with this thread (I've been busy).

I might make a few changes but I'll definitely commit this before
the next release, including the classhints patch. Thanks Sebastian
and Norbert!

Status update/notes:

XGetImage (used for desktop saves) fails when that part of the window
is outside the boundaries of the screen. Does anyone have ideas
on how to get around this?

I'm currently looking at improving the keyboard mapping; I have
problems on my Alpha workstation here because the scancodes are
completely different, and some people have reported the same
with various other hardware. Currently I'm proposing to let X do
the mapping into a keysym, and then map back into a PC keyboard
scancode.

I've fixed an endianness problem which would cause fonts to
appear backwards on big endian X servers.

I'm looking at using autoconf. At the moment this is mostly
to select the right libraries out of -lnsl, -lsocket, but
no doubt it will come in useful in the future.
