AFAIK:

Looks like the licences which you bought are normal NT CALS which only allow the use of printing and file services. (they should cost around US$30,--/Pc ).
If they are min. full w2k professional licenses it should be OK.
NT4 Workstation licences do not count as TS-CALīs. (You need min. w2k prof.)
For use of Terminal services M$ wantīs you to buy eigther TS-CALīs or a full w2k professional(same like old NT4 Workstation) for every client which allow you access to the terminal services. (TS-CALS should cost around US$65,--/Pc).
On a w2k server there are so called temporary TS-CALīs. They only last for 90days. After this period you will not be able to connect to the w2k server anymore with these clients where the temporary TS-CALS timed out until you add TS-CAL licences to the server for all the clients you want to connect. (done with the "TS-Licensing" tool found in the administartion program group.
TS-CALīs are a replacement for a full w2k professional license which is much more expensive then that.
With NT4 Terminals server this 90days timeout period is not the case. Here M$ does not prevent acces after 90 days. They only say that you should buy the licences, but you can still connect if you donīt.
M$ wants this because they say that you see a NT desktop when you connect with RDP.
M$ also wants you to pay the TS-CAL if you connect with rdesktop because you also get an NT desktop.
I donīt know if hte -l option works with rdesktop and w2k Terminal services because rdesktop does not work with w2k yet, but i hope it will do so soon.

Hope I could help you.

Best regards

I have just received a copy of Windows 2000 Server, and would like to try setting up the server as a Terminal Server to several NT workstation and Linux machines. I have downloaded and compiled rdesktop without problems.
My question is, in our organization we have purchased seveal hundred licenses for NT workstation and NT server to allow logins to the NT domain. Are these licenses valid for Terminal Server, if I just point to our existing Login server for olicense verification?
