cannot resolve host name ?

i can ping the server traceroute andsoforth
but with ./rdesktop -l server.dns.name and ./rdesktop -l ip.add.ress 
both responds with cannot resolve hostname.

Any one solved this problem or encoutered anything simmilar?

please help, booting into doze is really depressing
