Imagine a company that spent $50,000 last year on Windows Based
Terminals but is not happy with the direction that Microsoft's licensing
is heading. They have investigated Linux and determined that 90% of
their employees would be able to do everything they need to with open
source software on Linux. If they only had an RDP (or ICA) server for
Linux, they could transition everyone to the new servers without
replacing or even touching the terminals and keep a single Windows
Terminal Server (or Win4Lin, etc.) around for the remaining 10%.
Believe me, such companies exist.
